Sheffield MRG co-directors participate in discussion on Migration and Families in Europe

Migration Research at Sheffield’s co-directors Professor Louise Ryan and Dr Majella Kilkey participated in a two-day conference about Migration and Families in Europe, held by the Centre on Dynamics of Diversity at the University of Manchester, at the beginning of February. A recent blog post about the conference explores the discussions held by academics, policy makers and practitioners from the UK and Europe. While in the first day the discussions focused on conceptual and methodological challenges in researching migrant families, the second day explored policy and practice as well as the experiences of migrant and refugee families. The blog highlights Professor Ryan’s presentation on children, social networks and the relevance of ‘embeddness’ as lens to understand the experiences of migrants’ families in the UK.
